Recognize These?

All the entries in the Think Outside the Sox contest are online. Here's number 119 . I think my photograph looked better. And with them folded flat, you can't really see how the lines move across the instep. Nonetheless, there they are, in the contest and on display at Stitches West. Hurray! And for another Georgia connection, I'll out Betty Salpekar right now, with entry number 3 . Just when I think I've done something clever, I attend a North Georgia Knitting Guild meeting and realize that Betty, who is very humble, is just totally, quietly, brilliant beyond all good measure. Update: Here's the link to the winners. I did not realize that Betty also entered number 47 , the Grand Prize Winner.

Thanks, Joe!

Joe from SWTC (makers of TOFUtsies and Karaoke) was at the shop last night for knit night. Credit to Debi for attending the west coast TNNA convention a few weeks ago. As far as I know, she was the only shop owner from this area to make the trek out to California, but it paid off. Joe brought us lots of goodies including samples! Woo-hoo! Karen, on left, is modeling a sweater knit in just one colorway. BJ is modeling a mitered jacket knit with both multi-colored Karaoke and a coordinating plain color of Karaoke. Also not included in the samples at top is Therapy, their new yarn that is 30% jade. I have no clue how you get jade into a spin-able state nor what sort o

And then it all sped back up again into the usual madness. Hence, no blogging. There has, however, been some knitting going on in the background. Not as much as I would prefer, but hey, some is good. I did manage to get a pair of socks into the Think Outside the SOX contest . Winners will be announced at Stitches West later this month. I don't expect to win a prize, since as someone who is paid to teach knitting, I was required by the rules to enter in the "Pro" division. But at least I entered something. After the socks come back I'll post more about the unusual construction technique and some of the interesting variations that can be done on this pattern. For now, this is TOFUtsies color 799 and the socks were worked bottom up in the knit one below pattern from XRX's recent book by Elise Duvekot. (Oh, and is t
