Alabama Fiber Fest
in Birmingham AL:
I taught at this one last year but missed the deadline
for teaching proposals this year. It is a super-sweet festival. Several of the
vendors I know from Carolina Fiber Fest, SAFF, and other such festivals will
be at this one. Once again it is at a brewery. The brewery is very nice with
lots of indoor seating and space for classes or events. It worked out well
last year as attendees could shop, take a class, buy food at the food trucks,
get a possibly adult beverage, and sit indoors and knit. And remember craft
beer can be an excellent holiday gift for the non-knitter!

Vogue Virtual Knitting LIVE:
This online event includes several of my favorite teachers including
Alasdair Post-Quinn, Lucy Neatby, Harry Wells, Kim McBrien Evans, Lesley Anne
Robinson, and Assia Brill. If you've been wanting to level up, here's your
opportunity!

"Hearing Aboot... Judging Knitwear at Shows"
by Shetland's Organisation for Knitters:
This is a virtual event held at
7 PM GMT (2 PM EST). The panel of four familiar Shetland knitters will talk
about judging knitwear. What advice might they offer to someone competing?
I've attended one of SOS's virtual events previously. This is a wonderful way
to get a sense of how knitting in the United Kingdom differs from knitting in
the United States while simultaneously supporting traditional knitting overseas.

Marigold Fiber Fest
in Winterville GA:
I haven't attended this one yet, so not sure what to
say about it. It is in Georgia just east of Athens and UGA. A quick check of
the football schedule confirms there is a football game at University of
Georgia that day. Perhaps this is a good one to pair with a trip to Athens if
someone in your family is heading for football and you would rather head for
yarn?

14-17 January 2027
Vogue LIVE in New York:
This is Vogue's once a year in-person event. I have never been, but
several of my local knitting friends have. The list of teachers is long and
full of familiar names.
15-16 January 2027 The Knitting Guild Association
Lace Edgings Immersion Weekend:
This is the third in a new series by TKGA. The first was shawl shaping
and the second was socks. You have to be a TKGA member and there's an
additional cost of $30. But . . . the recordings are permanently available as
long as you remain a TKGA member.
15-17 January 2027 Winter Stitchworks at Lake Logan NC:
This is the
January knit and quilt retreat that for 20 years was at Kanuga. Varian Brandon
organizes it. No links because it is sold out. I will be there. We haven't yet
decided if I am offering any formal instruction or if I am just hanging out,
knitting, and gladly helping other people troubleshoot their projects.
21-24 January 2027
South Carolina Knit Inn
in Greenville SC:
Varian Brandon is this year's featured instructor. I'll
be attending and teaching one session of "Oops! Now What Do I Do?" This event
run by the South Carolina Knitting Guild has 150 people and is already sold
out, although the marketplace is open to as many shoppers as can fit through
the door. This is another event where mostly I will be relaxing, but will
gladly troubleshoot if anyone asks for assistance chasing gremlins out of
projects.
