Daring Double Cables class

Abracadabra! Can you make two-sided stockinette and two-sided reverse stockinette? How about a reversible Saxon braid? Learn the secret to making double-sided cables on a reverse stockinette background without purling.

Skill level is advanced.
Prerequisite: Must already know how to work regular two-color double-knitting. Students must already have completed a double knit project — a bookmark or potholder is fine.

What you will learn:
left-leaning double-knit cable
right-learning double-knit cable
double-knitting to show purl or knit stitches
monochromatic double-knitting (i.e. two layer fabric in one color with one yarn)

Maximum 20 students.

½ day workshop.

Students receive a handout in booklet form and a pattern for a double-knit cabled scarf.

No materials fee.

No homework, per se. If it has been awhile since you worked any double-knitting, be sure to refresh your memory.

Supplies:
  • class yarn (smooth, non-splitting, light or bright or medium color)
  • needles to work that yarn as well as needles both larger and smaller
  • 2 non-slippery short double-pointed needles or 2 non-slippery cable needles

No special needs for the room set up. A whiteboard or flip chart is nice to have but not need to have.  I have a projector if the facilities can accommodate it. Room set-up should be tables and chairs either facing forward or in a U-shape.
