k = knit p = purl
c4f = cable 4 front — i.e. cross 2 stitches over 2 stitches so that the cable
leans left; the 2 stitches held on the cable needle will be held in front
c4b = cable 4 back — i.e. cross 2 stitches over 2 stitches so that the cable
leans right; the 2 stitches held on the cable needle will be held in back
Cast-on 52 stitches. (Sample was crocheted cast-on, but you can do what you
like.)

This homework swatch is for the “fancier” version of this class, which is what
I typically teach for guilds and festivals. If you are taking the 2 hour
version called “Fixing Mistakes,” the homework is:
2 swatches.
Cast on 20 stitches and work stockinette for an inch or two.
Leave live on needles.
Cast on 20 stitches and work garter stitch for an
inch or two. Leave live on needles.
(Note, you can use a smaller needle or stitch holders to park your live
stitches.)
